The Brazilian government said that it will not recognize the Syrian opposition coalition formed in Doha last week.

In a statement on Friday, Brazil's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Tovar Nunes, said that the UN Security Council has not recognized the legitimacy of this coalition yet.

He added that the Brazilian stance aimed at enhancing the role of the UNSC in the face of other groups were formed to discuss the situation in Syria, including the so-called "friends of Syria" group.

He expressed Brazil's concern over the escalation of violence in Syria in case of arming the Syrian opposition since some countries publicly wished that as France and its president who recognized the coalition and said that the possibility of arming it is under discussion.
